Hiller Carbon Background and History

Hiller Carbon LLC is a leading supplier of specialty carbon products and other minerals to the EAF steel, paper, foundry, lime, industrial and other chemical industries with over four decades of industry presence. They are also a primary supplier of raw materials.

Their Problem

Hiller Carbon has a limited list of customers who constantly have the requirement of raw materials. Manually maintaining excel sheets required a new sheet every 15 days with all the customer details, delivery information, refill information, order details, schedule detail which was a hectic task. Extracting reports was another challenge due to too many excel files.

Our Solution

Our experts at Evolvous employed Power Apps to create an application in 3 segments – Customer Entry, Carriers and Scheduling and Tracking where the user can manage everything in one place in a more organized format. The application was connected to Azure SQL, which acts as a central database for data storage. Power BI made it easy to extract reports, and Power Automate made forecasting available to the Hiller Carbon team.

The Impact

Using the automated application, Hiller Carbon got relieved from maintaining hundreds of excel files rather now they have a centralized database for logging all details separately in the respective segment.

Users can replicate the previous order by just selecting from the existing templates. They can track as well as schedule their carriers/trucks and can extract reports through Power BI.

Power Automate gave them the functionality to forecast inventories as well as the requirements for future orders. Moreover, users could export these reports conveniently in excel format and exchange files directly from the application without going to Outlook.
