The client is one of the leading healthcare organizations with a team of highly qualified doctors and nurses offering specialized treatment and critical care services.
To ensure efficiency in service delivery, they used two separate applications. One app was used by the doctors and nurses to manage patient records in a smarter and more accessible way. Another app utilized data analytics to enhance the medical billing process. Both of the applications were built on Amazon Honeycode. Unfortunately, the platform was shutting down and hence, they needed to switch to a better application platform, and they needed to switch fast.
Since Honeycode was a low-code application development platform, it was ideal to shift to a similar platform with low-code/no-code functionalities. Since Microsoft Power Apps was an industry leader in low-code applications, it became an obvious choice.
However, that was not the only factor that made them a good fit. The client needed to integrate data visualization into their application. Power BI, another Microsoft application, offered excellent data visualization features. And the best part is, it integrated seamlessly with Power Apps. Applications built on Power Apps are also highly scalable, which made it a good fit for the dynamic shifts in demand that the client faced.
We extensively engaged with all stakeholders to understand the issue. Upon a deeper analysis, our team was able to conceptualize a solution where we were to build two applications based on Power Apps. Our team also proposed to use Microsoft Dataverse as the data storage platform, which simplified the storage and the subsequent data consumption by the application.
We also laid out a streamline development roadmap which allowed us to deploy the app quickly, within the required time.
For the client, the biggest challenge was to get the app live and ensure adaptation quickly. So, we followed a roadmap that allowed us to handover the project within a short span of without compromising on the performance.
The project kicked off the project by engaging with stakeholders across different levels and departments within the organization. This helped us to understand the requirements of the client. At the same time, it also gave us insights into the functioning of the existing app. Once the needs are assessed, we worked on the project milestones and established KPIs.
Since Microsoft Dataverse was to serve as the data storage platform, we proceeded towards setting it up. We analyzed their existing database structure to understand the data relationships. Our experts recreated the data structure and accurately mapped the data to replicate the relationships that existed in the previous application.
Once the Microsoft Dataverse environment was set up, we moved to the next stage – where we created the Power Apps.
After procuring the required licenses, we started to develop the application. The objective here was to resemble the user interface of the existing Honeycode application, so to give a consistent user experience which ensured faster adoption. We customized the Power Apps screens and added some new features which further enhanced the performance and usability.
Following the development phase, we moved towards testing. The new application was not only expected to meet the basic performance standards but also exceed the efficiency levels delivered by the existing Honeycode app. We performed a series of tests, and all issues that were detected were resolved promptly.
Once everything was performed as expected, we moved to the live environment. The application was monitored for any issues. We also extracted and archived all the necessary data, settings, and other assets from the Honeycode environment and handed over the project.
By following the streamlined development process, we were able to design, develop and deploy the Power Apps application within the stipulated time.
The team also included certain custom features in the new application which further boosted efficiency and allowed the team to make better, data-driven decisions. At the same time, the new app also made it easier and more efficient to manage patient care on the go.
Overall, the two new applications exceeded the expectations of the client and enhanced efficiency in their day-to-day operations.
