Last week it was time for Microsoft Ignite 2020 – Microsoft’s annual, international customer-focused conference. Which means time for latest updates, cool features, new capabilities, and a lot more. Microsoft has announced a ton of new updates but this post will cover all the key features added to Teams. Some of the features are now available to download and some will be available later this year.
This calendar year meetings will have a new Together mode scene, be it – an auditorium, a conference room, or a coffee shop. Take your entire team to a variety of set-up and create the experience for your meeting.
By the end of October, meeting organizers will have the ability to split up the meeting into smaller groups to facilitate brainstorming sessions or workgroup discussions with Breakout rooms. Extremely useful in online classes, corporate events, board meetings with committee breakouts, and organizational retreats.
Coming this year, Meeting recaps will centralize all the key artifacts of your meeting, including meeting recording, transcript, chat, shared files visible in the Details tab for each meeting. It will also be available in the meeting event in the Outlook calendar.
Meeting organizers can use event registration with automated emails and after the meeting, organizers can view a detailed reporting dashboard to understand attendee engagement.
This calendar year, Microsoft had launched a collaboration bar and now simplifying the portfolio of Teams aligning both Windows and Android platforms within the Teams Rooms.
Microsoft also promises to deliver a touchless meeting experience including Room remote for Microsoft Teams Rooms, Support for Teams casting for Microsoft Teams Rooms, Proximity Join on Surface Hub, and Cortana voice assistance for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
Coming later this year, a simplified view that shows contacts, voicemail and calling history all at once.
For situations such as an IT help desk or HR hotline, collaborative calling can quickly connect call queues to specific channels.
From 1st October, Microsoft Calling Plan countries will now include Austria, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland.
With this new update users will have more common business scenarios with pre-defined channels, apps, and guidance to help your team get started faster and be more effective.
Another interesting update will allow the users to check active members, important posts pinned by members, and other relevant information all at-a-glance in each channel info pane.
Later this year, Team membership which is currently limited to 10,000 members will be increased to 25,000 members per individual team.
Starting this October, Wellbeing features and productivity insights – powered by MyAnalytics and Workplace Analytics – are coming to Microsoft Teams, giving personalized insights with recommended actions to make changes in habits and improving productivity.
The new SharePoint home site app will now be directly available into Teams where employees can view the organization’s intranet.
Front line workers will now have the ability to experience the push-to-talk feature in their Android smartphones and tablets providing an instant, secure and clear voice communication over the cloud. This is big news for organizations in retail, construction, and others where you need instant, push-to-talk communication.
With the integration of Real Wear head-mounted devices in Teams, field workers will be able to use a voice-controlled user interface and remain 100% hands-free.
For the healthcare sector, the new Microsoft Teams EHR connector will allow clinicians and patients to launch a virtual patient visit or consult.
IT Admins will be able to customize their Teams custom line-of-business app catalogue using the organization’s branding plus policies can be applied in batches of up to 50K users.
Coming later this year, enhancements to the Power BI app will expedite discovering data from across the organization and quickly creating visualizations from Excel datasets right within Teams will be possible.
Later this year, enhanced set of templates to automate work in Teams including actions like creating a Teams meeting, or additional entry points such as message extensions and message actions will be rolling out.
